SAUNA AND HEALTH

SAUNA AND ... THE AIRWAYS

In the sauna the blood circulation of the body and thus of the airways improves, more mucus is secreted and breathing is stimulated.
On the site of the Dutch Sauna Association we read that several experiments have already been done in which mucus secretion in the airways is increased, in other words, a sauna session is not bad for the lungs at all, quite the contrary!

People with chronic bronchitis, and therefore suffer a lot from trapped mucus, are going to feel a big difference after a sauna visit.
Moreover, the sauna is good for blood flow not only to the body and skin, but thus also to the respiratory organs.

THE EFFECT OF THE SAUNA ON BREATHING.

A dry sauna is suitable for all people with breathing problems, because the air here does not feel heavy at all.
Those who still have trouble breathing in a hot sauna should definitely try an infrared sauna, in which not the air, but the sauna visitor is heated.
A steam bath can also bring relief, for example to people suffering from sinusitis, we read on gezondheid.be.

People with respiratory problems or asthma who want to go to the sauna for the first time are better off consulting with their doctor first.
