Welcome, spring!

21/03/2024

After a period of warm cups of tea, domestic companionship and regular moments of contemplation, we put on our walking shoes to seek as much sunlight as possible in the still somewhat wet grass. Spring has arrived and we see this not only in our calendar and the start of the summer hour; nature also gives some (sometimes still very subtle) signals.

Because “renewed energy” is perhaps the key concept of the season, in this newsletter we would like to tell you briefly about chakras and the role of sound healing in promoting balance and harmony on a physical, emotional and spiritual level – something a lot of people are looking for these days.

First … A Digital Detox

Implementing a moment without digital stimuli seems to be a difficult task. This is actually not surprising, as we are inundated – often unconsciously – with them. As soon as you walk into a spa, you see that digital solutions subtly triumph there as well. Just think of online reservations, electronic wristbands, linked to your personal account, with which you open and close your locker and order food and drinks at the same time, and television screens to announce our exercise programs and upcoming events.

Fortunately, these are things designed to promote guest comfort. When we talk about a ‘Digital Detox,’ it’s mostly about temporarily interrupting reachability and digital connectedness, because it’s that continuous ‘on mode’ that subconsciously causes a lot of stress. We like to remind you that ‘deconnection’ (in the form of exercising, walking or creating something with your cell phone in airplane mode) helps you relax and focus on the things that really matter.

Sound Healing

Within the four walls of a spa, music, or say “sound,” is an important element of experience. As a sauna-goer, you are usually presented with a relaxing mix of wellness music, with piano, guitar, singing bowls, pan flute, harp, hand pan and a diverse list of natural sounds as the main “ingredients,” and there is a reason for this. Indeed, in our “world of wellness,” “sound healing” or sound therapy is known as a powerful tool for healing and balancing the mind, body and soul. It is ancient practice that uses different sound frequencies (vibrations) to achieve a profound healing effect. This is through various techniques, including the use of voice, singing bowls, gongs, whistles, and even pieces of music composed to specific frequencies.

The punch line in the story is that each unique sound frequency is associated with specific chakras or energy centers in the body and thus has a different effect on the body and mind.

For example, the frequency of 432 hz is often associated with healing and harmony, while 528 hz is known as the “miracle tone” for activating the heart chakra (emotional balance, forgiveness and relationships).

In a nutshell, sound healing can help reduce stress, anxiety and physical pain, improve sleep, increase focus and concentration, and promote a deeper sense of well-being and inner peace. Whether listening to relaxing music, experiencing a sound healing session with a trained therapist, or playing an instrument yourself … the healing power of sound can be a valuable addition to our pursuit of wellness and balance.
